Better to say, “they outplayed us and we congratulate them on their win. We will look forward to another season and maybe another chance next year.” The term “letting them win” sounds elitist. #superbowl

I’m sure a 5 year old will grasp all that
-
Mine certainly could.
-
Congrats Suzanne, have a great Monday.
-
You too! Go forth and teach children broader understanding!
-
Not sure how strangers will take to me lecturing their children but I’ll give it a shot! Haha.
-
Well you gave it a shot with your first comment. If you are timid now, you should have stopped before you told that commenter that a five year old wouldn't understand that explanation. Glad you've learned to stop remote-parenting now, though.

Nobody "Let" anybody else win. It was taken from them. Nick Foles CAN throw the ball AND catch the ball.
-
This is worth an entire article in the USA Today? WTH
-
Because they know people will go ballistic over the "letting them win" comment, even though it doesn't look like she meant it that way. But it'll get reactions.
-
Jared - perfectly said!
-
But not a good reply on her part. Kids should know sometimes someone is better and you lose.
-
They’re understand as they get older, but you’re still right.

Misleading quote. She was trying to comfort her crying children and teach them how to be good losers. She then congratulated the Eagles players she saw. Anyone criticizing her here is willfully ignorant.
-
How is it misleading? Its literally a direct quote. Daddy didnt let anyone do anything. His team got their ass whooped.
-
She's talking to a FIVE YEAR OLD. "Sometimes we have to let other people win. We have to share. Sharing is caring" That's pretty much what I say to my 5 year old when she gets angry at losing a board game. Stop taking it so literally. She congratulated the Eagles for winning.
-
When you say “let” you imply that he (or your kid) CHOSE to allow them to win. A teaching moment is “sometimes you give it your all and lose.” Not “ sometimes you allow someone else to have glory.”
-
You seem to be hung up on semantics. I think she was more trying to teach her young kids that you can't always win and you have to allow for the possibility that others will win. Have a good day.
-
lol there is no "hung up on semantics" when you're talking to a five-year-old. you're either saying what you mean or you're saying something wrong
-
Lol... you ever talk to a five year old? Never told them Santa was watching or babies come from storks... stop being an ass
-
talk to one every day. and when i tell him santa is watching it's because I'M LYING. ON PURPOSE. not exactly a teaching moment
