As a disabled veteran who has gotten all of my medical care at the VA for the past 15 years, this doesn't surprise me at all. The VA medical system is a disgrace.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice Coleen, it's shameful how the government that swears to defend the same Constitution you do failed you

Have you taken a deeper look at some of the Doctors that are in the military? There’s a reason why a Doctor leaves his/her private practice and joins the military and it’s not because they want to serve their country.

Apparently that hit a nerve. Did you read how I wrote “some Doctors” and not all? I didn’t say that Kim Burgess falls into this particular category so calm down.

TBF the 2nd 1/2 of your tweet did seem to be re: all military docs. Also Kim said *most* don’t leave private practice. Not just SELFdefense.

The VA cannot attract quality doctors. At my husband’s last appointment, his doctor had nothing but problems with the record keeping system. They are still running on Windows 7. Most good doctors would not want to work for them. (1)

The VA would need to update their technology, structure, and pay in order to attract good doctors. Some VA medical centers do use medical students in residency at nearby medical schools. To say that all at the VA are bad though is a wrong generalization. (2)

As a veteran who has been under the care of VA Doctors for the last 8 yrs to include a bout with cancer, two hip replacement and several other issues, I have nothing but high praise for the care received. Yes there are definite issues but let's not generalize please.

Glad you've fared better than I have. The shit the VA gets away with by shuffling doctors around is despicable I was misdiagnosed for 6 years w/bursitis . When I finally got a Dr. to approve surgery During the surgery to rebuild the ball and socket I went into cardiac arrest.
