Morality is not inherently reliant upon belief in God. As an atheist, I believe I have stronger morals than anyone who would vote for #RoyMoore.

If you do not understand separation of church and state, you should automatically be disqualified from representing citizens constitutional interests. It's that simple!!!
-
If we adhered to that, as was intended and should be, there would be no Republican in office.

Maybe there should be a law that elected officials do need a bible to be sworn in. The USA is a Christian country.
-
What part of "no religious test" don't you understand?
-
I just thought it would be a great idea to introduce a bible when an official is sworn in. It is merely an idea, just a thought.
-
Nice backtracking. I believe you meant what you said in your first tweet. If you don't believe what you wrote, maybe you should delete it. Just a thought
-
I am not voting in the Alabama election, but I thought it would be a nice idea. Talking about a bible is not against the law. I don't have to delete anything. It was a suggestion.
-
Talk about the bible all you want. Place your hand on it if you're ever sworn into office if you want. Your idea of passing a law "that elected officials do need a bible to be sworn in" is illegal under the Constitution
-
Interesting. In The Netherlands politicians don't place their hand on the bible either. But public servants like police officers can decide to do so.
-
Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind next time I'm in the Netherlands

Try the Constitution instead, but read it first

I’m speechless after the complete ignorance of government history and processes by our government officials these days.

I think it should be the Constitution people are sworn in on. That makes more sense than being sworn in over religious texts. I wonder how the spokesperson would have responded after being told “it should be the Constitution people are sworn in on.”
