Why would you allow public companies to have your DNA! It’s amazing to me.

Not so much.

It's affordable and fun and a simple if inaccurate diversion.

which makes sense since a good portion of our history is made up a lot of european men/west african women procreating.

We are redoing ours from a few years ago. I do not expect any changes. British Isles seems pretty expansive and bland. Curious what primordial ooze I crawled out of.
-
i don't know, british isles seems pretty awesome to me. some of the greatest minds and talents in human history have come from or have ancestry from the countries that make up the isles. you lucky son of a gun.

dna ancestry tests can't tell you everything but they are useful. I took ancestry and found out most of my dna(that was tested) is most similar to west/central africa(more specifically cameroon/congo, ivory coast/ghana, benin/togo) with some great britain. pretty cool.

So no point doing the test ?
-
I wouldn't say there's no point, pinpointing exact birthplaces of your ancestors is very difficult but as far as geographic/continent wise tests, especially ones from companies with good databases, are descent. like western, eastern european, east asian, west african etc.
