No, erecting them showed an UNPATRIOTIC lack of appreciation for the FREEDOM of ALL individuals "supposedly" protected by the Constitution.

Which is why they need to be MOVED from out-in-the-open viewing, & into museums w/other relics of our past. TREASON should not be honored.

Besides, other items of our history (Neil Armstrong's capsule, for ex.) is in a museum, & neither his nor NASA's history has been "erased."

Thank you. The "But it'll erase our history" EXCUSE is desperate & weak. It's REALLY about folks hating being told what they can/cannot do.

I think it's racism in comouflage.

I suspect that, for many...of course it's racial; while for others, it's primarily/solely? to honor fallen ancestors (i.e., "Heritage").

If we were removing them from museums he might have a point. But we are moving them there. So this is entirely disingenuous.

Really? How does one compromise on race and discrimination and slavery? It's like there is no such thing really as half-pregnant. Come on.

So monuments that stand to commemorate symbols of slavery are ok in 2017? Then why aren't there statues of Hitler in Germany??

Really? You’re comparing the South with Nazi Germany. Not by a long shot. By the way, the monuments are not symbols of slavery.
