FEMA officials say they're very concerned about Houston: People need help. #Harvey

Too many people *did* listen to Mayor Turner of Houston.pic.twitter.com/L4Zd7b6ynm
-
He made the right decision. The photos of submerged cars could have been multiplied by thousands, one breakdown stalls traffic.
-
Ppl had 24+ hours to get out before the storm hit. Had Turner heeded the warnings, he would have issued an evacuation order. He was wrong.
-
Spoken like someone who doesn't understand Houston or Texas roadways. 24 hours is not enough time to evacuate millions. Not even close.
-
That's an incorrect assumption and a rotten defense for a horrible (lack of) judgement call.
-
There are 2 highways outta Houston going west away from the coast. Both are flooded. Neither I-10 or 290 could cope w/evacuating 6.5M.
-
Those are flooded NOW; they were not flooded on Thursday, when the evacuations should have been going on.
-
Your ignorance and insensitivity is showing. Let people who know what they're doing do it.

Despite assurances from the current government, FEMA is not prepared. The Mayor saved lives by people not being stuck on highways.
-
They had lots of time- he knew THURSDAY! If people there can't follow a civilized evacuation that's on them
-
In a normal commute one accident, flat or run out of gas can cause delays. How many people live in Houston? How many cars?
-
Right but see it's included in the budget and they practice how to reverse the highways to evacuate.

Ive seen photos of roadways-build like flood swales-they would have been rendered useless early in rainfall. Tragic!
-
No doubt about that.. but they had 36 hours, they could've evacuated those in danger zones. Look like paved canals

stop judging.Im in FL, grew up on warning that turnpike would be death trap. looks like houstons know their roads. 30"inch rain not expected

If you can't evacuate during a natural disaster, then Houston is pretty much a death trap
