People this is history! Destroying monuments allow people to forget what happened

Funny, Germany doesn't keep statues of Adolf Hitler and friends because of 'history'. If you want to learn history, pick up a book.
-
Or better, go to a museum for visual effect.

only the south erects monuments to the losing enemy combatants of the USA. Next they will build one for Hitler, Admiral Yamamoto and Sadam
-
The statues in NOLA were erected in late 1800's and early 1900's....stereotyping = ignorance
-
the south still erected statues to the losing enemy combatants. My relatives come from Denham Springs. I know what they stand for.
-
it is time for them to be removed and placed in a museum to display America's shameful Confederate past.

Sorta like if Germany struggled to remove Hitler Statues because of "heritage" concerns.

Everything honoring anyone who supported slavery should b removed n renamed, including Washington n Jefferson, or racial unity will never be
-
How about the Constitution? Should that be destroyed too? Be realistic, this is our history. Whitewashing it won't change anything.
-
The Constitution can be and has been amended, so, too, can other things be changed. Putting racist crap in museums is not whitewashing.
-
The monuments in New Orleans were erected in late 1800's and early 1900's why didn't we get this done 10,20,25 years ago?
-
1. There has never been an organic movement to remove these within the state. Groups from out of state came and demanded it.

Sickening! The only place you should see these is in a history book. We're done with past atrocities.
-
So the Indians should remove say... the United States? Or are we just Hippocrates..

I understand those who don't like them. But...you can't teach lessons if you hide history in a closet. USE those items to teach the future!
-
Those lessons are best taught in schools, museums & other spaces designed to educate; not streets, boulevards & avenues with no context.
-
Schools limited (texts rewritten to omit info), museums limit times, and open display prompts curiosity from children. Home is #1 always.
