I remember being shown films of Communist countries forcing the citizens to "swear allegiance" to the ruler when I was in elementary school.
-
-
-
Then we were told each morning to recite the pledge of Allegiance. I couldn't see the difference. That was 45 years ago.
-
You shouldn't be FORCED to swear your allegiance to any country. You should want to do it.
-
Lately, the way this country has been behaving, I don't want to do it.
-
I'm with you

I am so glad. We are supposed to have pride in this country. I see why more parents are turning to home schooling these days.
-
You can't dictate or force pride.
-
Your right. However, Denying the healthy teachings of pride produces hate and disrespect twards those who gave there lives so we can be free
-
We will just have to disagree about how you teach pride. Repeating a forced saying isn't how you do it.

things change and so do point of views. now, I don't like what USA stands for under the leadership of a tyrant like trump.

What? Certain religions (even Christian) don't allow it. It's been optional for many decades! Wow.

Pledge and national anthem have no place in school or at NFL football game. It's propaganda. Pay your respects all you want at home.

This issue was decided in 1943 in the case West Virginia v. Barnette. The teacher is 100% correct.

School should understand that some religions are against the pledge. Amish, 7th Day Adventist, and a few others. Don't put flag before God.
-
In the constitution you don't have to pledge the flag. So this teacher is right!

Forcing kids to pray and recite the pledge of allegiance is nothing but brain washing at its finest!
