        they put you on medical and the state pays or whatever state you're in. That who pays if possible

        In some cases of which the patient can't pay, the hospital will negotiate a lower amount before collections, may write off. If too much, BK!

        I used to work in finance at a hospital. We tried to get patient to pay, but hardly any w/o insurance can. Mostly, we wrote off bills.

        Illegal means it's forbidden by law. It is not forbidden by law but rather there is a tax in lieu of insurance.
