Best way to actually protect yourself from the inevitable crippling cyber attacks that will destroy the power grid.

A lot of these systems are made to not work if connected to the grid and the grid is down. Protects people working on the grid.

I'm suggesting that they will effectively function in a stand alone mode.

If you want to sell excess power to the grid, it'll have to be connected, and it'll go down when the grid does for safety reasons.

Its my understanding that an individual buildings solar power will function regardless of the status of the grid. But I could be mistaken.

In the cases I'm aware of, you are mistaken. I'm looking into ways around that now before I buy.

Thank you for correcting my misunderstandings. Good luck. It would be my preference too.

I'm figuring with the right battery pack and solar cells I can be off the grid for electricity and sell some back to the grid, also.

The cost is still a concern. Ideally, I'd want a full solar roof and the home batteries. Also, the ability to cut ties with the grid.

Most solar installations are inoperative. The fad tends to wear off quickly.
