The Civil War was horrendous, but it's still part of American History. We shouldn't be dismantling our history,no matter how terrible it was

It's not erasure. Memorials are for the victims. There are no statues of Lenin, Pol Pot, Idi Amin or Hitler. As it should be.

This is wrong, we shouldnt white wash history. It happened, leave the historical references alone lest we forget

White washing is the statue. Memorials and tributes should include the south's most affected residents- those whom which suffered the most.

No, thats only appropriate going forward. Create new and memorable pieces of Art to reflect that. Tearing down history is ludicrous.

We have memorials for the soldiers all over, especially on Civil War battlegrounds. Jefferson only represents the ideology of slavery

Tired of the "tolerant" left imposing their radical views on the rest of us. It's a part of southern history & it can't be erased.

Seriously? A nice exaggeration. Culture includes everyone not just a few. I don't see huge statues of Tubman or Turner in the south.
