Uhhh, just a general question...how does labeling any crime as "hate" cause anyone to be "protected"? It's just "feel good" BS.

A hate crime is more than labeling, it provides for increased penalties (like crimes committed with firearms)

I doubt a criminal ever thinks about the penalty tied to any particular way they commit a crime.

It also reassures victims that society takes their plight seriously. Twitter is insufficient to explain.

hahaha! Twitter is just insufficient, period. "Society reassuring victims" in other words is "feel good" BS.

yes. Anyone deliberately targeting a Police Officer should be charged with a hate crime. If not killed, they should be locked up

Sure! Everyone should! If they can prove you hated the person you hurt. You should be charged with a hate crime.
