Many of you in your comments have raised excellent questions and concerns that we've dug deeper into. Here's our fact check on the president's column:http://bit.ly/2pPIEt4

You know that no one will read this. If you fact checked it and found it to be very slanted or false, DON'T PUBLISH IT - but no, you wanted views and engagement. Stop walking back mistakes and just be responsible in the first place - it's not that hard.

You consider yourselves a "newspaper", but in printing Trump's lies and distortions without counterpoint you proved to be nothing more than Fox News lite. I will no longer be reading your paper.

False stories by 45 are believed by readers, especially older readers who cannot fathom a president as a liar. But Donald is a liar and con man. USA Today should have only published with fact check next to it.

Too little, too late. Take down the original article, and put this one in its place. THAT is journalism.

Too late. Your “fact check” shld hve been on the same page as the ridiculius op-ed. It was all a lie. You knew it as soon as you read it. But you did & said nothing until you were publicly pressured & humiliated & Politico put out an excellently annotated article. Shame. On. You.

A responsible paper would not have run it in the first place. But you should have AT LEAST done this fact-checking in the op-ed itself.

Trump's lies should've never been printed in the first place unless every point was able to be refuted side by side.

You should have done your job in the first place. And by the way, your smaller newspapers suffer from the same mistake-ridden, lackadaisical editing.

So, you have fact checkers and processes in place so "opinion" pieces are taken with the necessary grain of salt...but you intentionally didn't put these into place for his lying rant? And now, because you got killed on social media, you are publishing the facts? Gee, thanks??
