For many months now, we’ve been talking about the NFL as a sport in trouble. It turns out we’ve been focusing on the wrong sport.https://bit.ly/2OSX5KW

Eh, nice try to pivot, but at least Baseball isn’t struggling because of a lack of patriotism.

        Neither is the NFL.

Arguably, ratings took a dive after the kneeling controversy. That’s not all, of course. Traditional televised sports as a whole is suffering.

@MLB start playoff games at 6:00 pm and give kids a chance to watch to the end. Stop worrying about stopping the shift. The real problem is kids can’t stay up to see the end of playoff games.

The whole picture is that MLB ratings go lower with years. I love baseball, but let’s face it: the World Series is not anymore the major event it used to be thirty years ago.

Why? I blame it on accessibility of games on TV and marketing of players. MLB does the worst of the three major sports in spotlighting their best players. NBA and NFL work hard at it. The MLB TV deal with @FOXSports is a joke, games aren’t on TV. MLB is doing this to themselves.

When I was a kid, in the seventies, every boy seemed to know the names of every player of every team with no exposure to them but through trading cards. Kids nowadays with internet and sports-dedicated channels barely know the teams!

Not sure about the 70s, but in the 80s there was ‘This Week in Baseball’, games of weekends during the afternoon, Starting Lineup toys, players promoted on cereal boxes and other things targeting kids, etc. The World Series was also on during times kids could watch. Not anymore.

Attendance is down because it costs way too much. Tickets are one thing, then add on food and drinks, and you're probably looking at $300 for a family of 4 to sit in the nosebleeds. Yikes

Why would anybody go to a game, pay to park, pay crazy amounts for beer and food, pay for an Uber home, etc when you can sit home and never wait in line for anything? Only idiots still go to games (unless you’re tailgating; then everything is better going to the games)

I agree with the posts about game times. Way too late at night. Baseball is just fine in the #Cubs #STLCards world, even though it costs as much for one beer as it does for 3 gallons of gas.
