August 28 marks a significant day in black history. So much so that director Ava DuVernay made it the focus of an orientation film for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Here are a few key events. (Photo: AP)pic.twitter.com/awEzvMn6Mm

CORRECTION: August 28 marks a significant day in American history, not just black history. The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom was about more than black people; it was about uncontested equality, which led to the Poor People's Campaign. Poor has no color. @USAToday @ava

Sadly, poor impoverished White people didn't want to align with poor impoverished Black people then and they don't now. #MAGA is about blaming 'others' for being poor. Republicans have exploited this fear amongst them for years.

My response did not make any mention of presidential politics. I simply wanted @USAToday to retract their divisiveness when they expressed that yesterday was about black history. Those events shaped the fabric of American history.
