Wouldn’t “Dear ALL people stop using the N-word. Why do you feel like you need to use it?” Have been a more appropriate headline? I’m pretty sure telling a group of people to not do something, just pretty much makes that group of people do it even more

If someone uses a word to try and hurt you that's on them. If a word hurts your feelings that's on you.

So @USATODAY is labeling us black vs white. And how can the N word be offensive when those who are offended toss it around so much in conversation.

Try this: if the word is "acceptable" in the public square - by any group - then every other group may use it. If the word is truly that loaded, then get it out of public use by *everyone.* I grew up not knowing the word. But now? It no longer shocks me, it's been used so much.

Dear Black people...and everyone else...stop telling people what words they can and can't use. Admit that you are weak minded to the degree that language physically demoralizes you...but my freedom of speech is more important than your feelings.

Because it's just a word. Words are easy to say. The word has meaning behind it, yes, but people take offense to the word just being out in the air with no context. What follows public outrage from a word? Legal action? Start policing peoples words and they are no longer free.
