Harder to source new cars with stick shift transmissions in NA. Still enjoy driving my 12yo 6 spd w/ >300km - more control, better feel.

Aren't parents supposed to do that?

16 year olds were born in 2002, that means most of their parents learned to drive in the 90s, how many people were driving manual boxes in the 90s? It was pretty much dead then.

Try learning to drive a stick shift and drive on the wrong side of the road on mountainous terrain in a 350cc mini-van. Japan circa 1975. Terrifying!!!

I've only had 1 car EVER that wasn't a manual. My current car is a 5 speed, & I've ridden motorcycles for 40 years as well, & they've also got the clutch. I made sure both of my kids learned how to drive one as part of their initial training.
