Which part of “thou shall not kill” did they not understand the last 2000 years?

Don’t get me wrong. I am against the death penalty because it’s too easy to convict the wrong person.

I'm Catholic. I was taught long before today that the death penalty was wrong. So what's news?
-
The Catholic Church
hasn’t updated it’s official church policy regarding the death penalty until now. It was used for centuries, hasn’t really been used since the 1700s or so though in the church as punishment. -
So, you're a student of these things? Okay so now it's official? I go by my own soul anyway. To me, it's premeditated murder. I know I get angry and want to believe in it sometimes but I can't.

-
Warrant?
-
Death warrant for sacrificing children
-
The Vatiscam is an independent state with as sovereign, the Pope. Unless you're a terrorist, which I assume you're not. There's no Death Warrant.

I mean does anyone really care what he thinks? I certainly do not care when the head of a pedophilia organization comes out and tries to take the moral highground.

God himself in the bible gave the death penalty to thousands of people for worshipping an idol
-
Do you suggest we act like God?
-
So is administering death penalty for high crimes such as mass muder acting like god according to you? Do you suggest we abolish laws?
-
Leave the judgment to God. Abolish the death penalty.
-
So let mass murderers walk away eh OK. good luck with that

-
Let me clarify. We keep laws to try prevent harm to others. Abolish the death penalty. Leave the judgment to God if the person should live or die.
-
Yes. And without fear of death, what is to stop people from muder and all kinds of insane crimes if they know they wont be put to death? Fear of death penalty is a deterrent and probably made uncountable mass murderers-to-be decide not to do it
-
Fear of God should be enough to deter because deciding who lives or die is insanity.
