Arizona is one of six states that allows pharmacies and pharmacists to refuse to fill a prescription on religious or moral grounds.http://usat.ly/2zTl2M7

Good. If one pharmacist won’t fulfill a prescription, then go to another. People need to stop expecting everyone to support them and demanding to be served. Go somewhere else.

This law actually only applies to refusing to fill a rx for medication related to pregnancy and abortion so technically the pharmacist still violated the law

As someone who works in a pharmacy, I fully support the right of a pharmacist to refuse to fill a prescription based on many things, but religion isn't one of them.

A pharmacist should only refuse to fill based on professional judgment only. If someone lets their religious or personal judgement supercede their professional judgment, they’re not honoring the pharmacist’s oath and shouldn’t be one.

There are reasons to refuse based nothing on medical reasons. It the patient is incredibly rude towards you, your staff, and other patients, I've seen them banned permanently. Same thing if they are caught stealing in the store. I know that isn't the case here, but it happens.

In their self righteousness, they judge you, set themselves above you and thereby lose any connection to anything holy or sacred.

That being said, wouldn’t it be unlawful to fire the employee in question for refusing to give the meds?

Same people who support this when it comes to NFL players kneeling to protest systemic injustices: “you shouldn’t protest on the job!”

Peaceful protest is a right and #NFLPlayers kneeling does not in any way affect their ability to do their jobs. They r not being paid to stand for any anthem. A #pharmacist refusing to do his or her job of dispensing medication equally is not peaceful protest and shld be illegal.

The pharmacist doesn’t order the medication. The doctor does. What right does the pharmacist have to disrupt what was decided between a patient and their doctor? This isn’t an agree-to-disagree situation. If you think this is okay, you’re questioning personhood. And that’s wrong.pic.twitter.com/uMBLWWURwt

As someone who works in a pharmacy in NY, you are so spot on! They broke HIPAA AND the treatment is between the doctor and patient. Let people live their lives. What difference does it make to you why a person is taking what they are taking. This boils my blood.
