"A Michigan hospital sued an elderly patient’s two daughters and a granddaughter recently over a Facebook post and for picketing in front of the hospital they said mistreated the late Eleanor Pound." Some of this sounds like they deserve more than two people picketing them.

Folks, nether libel nor slander are protected as freedom of speech. If you’re going to post demeaning and/or negative comments about anyone or any organization you need the proof to back it up.

Not necessarily true. Much of what is found in a review is subjective. Courts regularly throw out suits by restaurants against those who leave negative reviews. Same could be said about doctors or hospitals. A negative review is not libel nor is it slander.

True. Yet more & more reviews have become vicious, crossing the line of mere subjectivism. Courts are recognizing that some reviewers set out with an intent to defame and harm. Those are the ones I’m talking about.

Here's a hint: don't ask for reviews if you don't want the truth. Here's just one case of a doctor who is likely guilty of what the review accuses:https://nypost.com/2018/05/28/i-wrote-a-negative-yelp-review-and-it-made-my-life-a-nightmare/ …

They sue those that they already bill 4 thousands when in all actuality it should be the patients suing them for mistreatment. I was laughed at by the hospital when I tried to sue. Their lawyers covered everything up and I got screwed. This world is going 2 hell in a handbasket.

But how many of these same doctors wouldn't hesitate to blast some small business owner online -- i.e. a restaurant or hotel - if they got bad service. If you can't stand the risk of pissing off a customer then you need to quit and go into another line of work.

Freedom of speech - ever heard of it?? This is friggin ridiculous - getting reviews on social media is the current way of speaking directly to the people- just ask Trump! Seriously though, reviews good and bad are part of today's culture. Deal with it!

You mean like the gastro doc who wanted to remove an 18 year old's colon after only three visits and no diagnosis? They've gotten away with this stuff for too long...social media is a great tool for sharing #incompetence. #accountability #westernma

To bad so sad. Deal with it. Most people post reviews on line. That’s the world we live in. Just because your a doctor or in the medical field doesn’t mean you should be excluded.

This is an intimidation tactic. Courts rarely side with those who get honest negative reviews.

I don't like 2 leaving a rating. I was asked 2 do it the other day & didn't. I liked the care I gotbbut the only reason I went 2 the facility was b/c my dr.'s office was closed & this facility took my insurance. if they had not taken my insur I wud not have gone 2 that facility.
