The company will ban employees from expensing meals that contain red meat, pork or poultry.https://usat.ly/2LiKagu

Obviously the policy looks silly from afar but no one had ever heard of this company prior to this story being written. Is this IHOB trying to steal a headline? #ihob

Forced vegetarianism. How “progressive”. “Eat the way we agree with or pay up.”

This feels kinda eff’d up. Essentially a company is deciding what you can or can’t eat? No.

Nah. You can eat what you want, but you can’t bill the company for it.

So you’re penalized for deciding to eat meat. That’s just awesome! NOT!

A company starting to decide things like that seems like a very, very slippery slope. Basically saying we don’t believe in your choice (of eating meat, which the MAJORITY of humans do) and therefore we are pushing our belief on you. Slip slip slip away

There are *many* items your company won’t pay for you, and you have to buy for yourself. This whole thing is exceptional. Most Americans just buy their own food. This really is the height of “first world problems” to whine that your company isn’t paying you to eat steak any more.

That’s may be true but guess what! We live in the first world. I wonder if your opinion would change if the company you worked for offered a free parking to all staff but only those that drove electric vehicles? You drive a gas vehicle? Sorry you pay for your own parking!

No, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. Just like the company in the news article, it would be a simple way to cut the company’s carbon footprint. The Supreme Court has already said companies can have opinions, even to remove access to contraception from employee heath insurance.

So your saying it’s ok then for a company to promote prejudice because some asshole in a judges robe says it’s ok. Thsts fantastic! agree a company can spend their money on whatever they want, I just think this is going in the wrong direction. 1/2

According to IRS Code, discriminating against employees who choose to use corporate reimbursed funds that eventually will be expense as fringe benefits may not be permissable. It's in the best interest of the Company to ask for an IRS Letter Ruling before making this a Policy.
