How can this be? She cant beat a top 100 mens player ever. How can any reasonable person think this, let alone print it?

The most impressive? Weren’t the top 10 seeds all eliminated in the first 3 rounds of the tournament? It was about her not getting a good enough seed now it’s apparently about her winning like she’s supposed to in an evidently weak field

or maybe a very strong field where anyone can beat almost anyone?

Yea I’m going to go with no. How many majors did the collective eliminated top 10 have? Serena is the GOAT women’s tennis player. Anything else is a rhetorical stretch

that question would make sense if serena didn’t compete in 3 different eras and conquered all 3.

3 different eras, in a sport that has been dominated by her for 15 years now, yea ok. Or are we in the new era now because she took a year off to have a kid? The field is embarrassing and the hype is because she’s the only reason to watch women’s tennis

Era of seles, Graf, venus followed by era of davenport, mauresmo, clijsters, hingis, henin, venus followed by era of sharapova, vika, venus. we’re still in that 3rd era imo but you get my point.

Hingis belongs in the first era, henin sharapova and clijsters were in the same era, you’re reaching here for your rhetorical purposes. Beyond that, what exactly is your argument?

you’re right about hingis. my point ultimately is that writing off everyone who’s fallen at Wimbledon 2018 as having not won enough slams to push back on serena being called the greatest athlete makes it sound like serena’s career started in 2018

Only time I agree with Americans on sports matters relating to an American. In Serena Williams, you have created true sporting royalty. Next time slap yourselves when making a list of ur greatest athletes and put LeBron & that football guy above Serena.
