They could save the planet by closing down completely.

Maybe move away from plastic cups as well and into some type of recycled paper cup that breaks down faster. We really do need to move away from plastic in general.

I suspect that's because they've bought enough plastic straws to last them through 2020. If they really cared about environment over profit, they could nix them now.

Not soon enough. I asked for "no straw" when I ask for water in restaurants with my meal.

Why not give discounts for using recycled cups, then you won't have to use plastic cups too!

And probably more local places, e.g. Dos Palmas Cafe in San Diego. The wholesale supply is having trouble catching up with the demand. So meanwhile, just drink out of the glass.

I've never understood the straw usage when eating out. I do not have one straw in my house and I drink liquids all day long! When I eat out, the obligatory straw goes unused. Straws are unnecessary 99% of the time.

But they’re still using plastic cups and lids!! And the lids just got more plastic added to them to compensate for now straw! Everyone should get a stainless steel cup & straw issued and scald them for cleanliness. Mehrr.
