I was thinking the same.... The SUVs aren't autonomous yet.

this report was poorly studied and analyzed. To report that SUVs account for more fatal injuries to pedestrians and not normalize that number with the growth of the SUV market is very misleading. Obviously as the market segment grows so will it’s accidents, and this fatalities.

It’s not the SUV’s, it’s the cell phone, distracted driving and walking. Regardless of the vehicle type these numbers would very likely be the same. IMHO

Let's see, step out in front of a small car, BANG. Step in front of a SUV, THUMP, THUMP. Step in front of a semi...splat! I know, lets put collision avoidance systems on people. On the other hand, imagine a large crowd trying to protest? How about air horns on SUV?

drivers and pedestrians...you cant see around them...they are constantly tailgating...crossing solid lanes...and many times distracted on devices...they are elevated, so often hard to see kids and shorter pedestrians

Back when I was young, we were taught to look both ways and make sure a driver sees you when crossing in front of them at a crosswalk. Common sense, people!
