Imagine being so culturally-isolated as a younger individual, you don't even remember that "self-portrait" was a concept for, like, centuries... Then imagine being so limited in critical thought, you regard one holding up the camera for a "selfie" as what's inherently different.

So, a selfie means that you took the pic of yourself, with your own camera. She might've invented that word, but that's it.
A lot older than social media, but that started with Friendster.
I remember taking "selfies" with a polaroid in the 80s. Paris didn't "invent" them at all.
