Some seem to know only one word, "Mami" or "Papá." Others plead to know when their aunt or parent will come to pick them up. Altogether, this audio of children separated from their parents and held at a detention center makes for some agonizing listening. https://usat.ly/2tdOQxh pic.twitter.com/GbzwAyhXFY

As a parent I don't understand how the parents of the kids can be so callous and irresponsible when they know what is likely to happen. Using your own children as "human shields" - horrible

They are seeking asylum by fleeing gang war and certain death. They don’t expect to have their children ripped from them.

Horrible to do this to your own children

It’s even more horrible to sit idle and have your children starve or killed. They are seeking ASYLUM. Do you know how difficult of a decision to uproot your family is?

And easy to blame the parents; fleeing far worse conditions, than the zero-tolerance- even-against-children policy hounds in the White House; https://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8001743/Implementing_the_President_s_Border_Security_and_Immigration_Enforcement....0.pdf …

And it’s the responsibility of OUR government NOT to separate children from their parents unnecessarily. What don’t you get about that?!? A parent will do anything to save/ care for an innocent child- seeking asylum is NOT a crime.

Sorry, but this is no proof....it could be fabricated or is from a unrelated event.... second, there are an increased number of "fake" families and third, if parents are detained the children can't stay with them...

I would say with some certainty that among those children in captivity there are some who are being abused by guards or those charged with their care.
