I love how ~half of this article has to defend the concept of tipping. Until the institution is done away with, I will do it for the server’s sake (always cash tip for that reason unless I’m out). But mangers should just give servers fair wages rather than forcing us to do so.

Well we’re not the generation that created professions that don’t adequately pay their employees, and instead rely on the kindness of strangers to supplement the income of millions of hard workers

Well, boomers are putting immigrant children in camps, so forgive me if I can't be bothered to care about this right now
-
Well then get your panties out of a wad and go comment on a thread discussing that, there, now go make a difference!

Allow me to explain the joke: By discussing the atrocities of another generation, I'm suggesting that perhaps USA TODAY should revise its journalistic priorities and that "what are Millennials ruining now" should probably be near the bottom of that list

Tipping is a foolish policy. My mother waitressed for years and excelled at it but she would tell you she would've much rather had a steady decent wage from her employer (like any other job) than try to depend on the wavering kindness of strangers from night to night.
-
I prefer waitressing. I typically make 20-30$/hour. Better than anything else I can do while in college. But again, it's not a job for everyone and that definitely tends to show in tips. (Not attacking your mom, I can see it with some of my coworkers).

It's not the millennial's fault. They could not control what was in place before them and that's having consequences on them and how others view them. Times have changed and so millennials have to find different ways to live.

I feel like my friends and I tip SO MUCH simply because we’ve all had second jobs in the service industry to support the policies and lack of policies of past generations ...

Hahahahahahahahaha. Now that's funny as HELL! Homeownership at the highest level ever. Real estate agents don't have enough inventory as it is. Now tipping. That's a whole other story. Needs to be disposed of immediately!

Dafuq boomer wrote this lie? Since most millennials have probably had service jobs, they know how to tip.
