(1/3) As we prepare for the next round of talks with the Taliban, important to remember we seek a comprehensive peace agreement, NOT a withdrawal agreement.

(2/3) A comprehensive peace agreement is made up of four inter-connected parts: counter-terrorism assurances, troop withdrawal, intra-Afghan negotiations that lead to a political settlement; and a comprehensive & permanent ceasefire. This is a framework which the Taliban accept.

(3/3) As I've said on numerous occasions, nothing is agreed until everything is agreed.

Yes Taliban only accept the framework with four mentioned agenda But do you think they will compromise with other three without USA withdrawal first? Your past six round of negotiations shows no progress this is why USA is using his smart power to convince other side

I don’t believe that Talibans will be abide by comprehensive agreement. Talibans are working for Pakistan & they’re not independent.

Confused by the input, tweets from @US4AfghanPeace & tweets from Shaheen shows there a hell of disagreements on many fronts, in all the previous phases of talks, if Talis hv not learnt how/what to talk than expect nothing in the future, the total engagement is an absolute waste!
