1/4 We did not impose this war. Afghanistan has been at war for decades, at times with each other. Tens of thousands of innocent civilians have died. Rather than another season of fighting, Afghans are demanding a new way forward.

2/4 The US entered peace talks b/c more war is not the answer. During talks I’ve proposed ways to reduce violence. By refusing to work w/ us to end the killing, the Talibs are prolonging it. Let Afghan people judge whether Talib statements encouraging more violence is way forward

3/4 The quickest way to prevent casualties is to agree to a ceasefire. Taliban senior leadership should allow their representatives to come to the table and discuss. I will continue to press the case.

4/4 The Afghan people deserve and want a comprehensive ceasefire and negotiations leading to a lasting peace. The US stands with them.

Thanks, @US4AfghanPeace Pressure on the Taliban without on Pakistan will never work. So keep the pressure on both sides. A: side drones attacks and B: side by international monitors found gray and blacklists.

We don’t trust US and NATO . If they were honest they wouldn’t allow warlords in the beginning. They kicked the Taliban out for a few years Pakistan was mobilised them and given them better training then US NATO given Afghan Army . Taliban have better weapons then Afghan Army.pic.twitter.com/BahjIGbWZz
