The paintings of Ammer Mohammed are all around the Jeddah Rehabilitation Centre in Iraq. He's one of the residents who came from Syria's Al-Hol camp. He paints the life he wants to build once he leaves. The boat however, represents the feeling of being all alone, he told us.

In Iraq today, I met with returnees from Al-Hol camp in Syria. From here, I want to send a message to all countries that also have nationals there: they must step up their efforts to facilitate the safe and dignified repatriation of their citizens.

Yet another horrific shipwreck has claimed the lives of dozens of people, including children - this time off the coast of Italy. I say once again: Every person searching for a better life deserves safety & dignity. We need safe, legal routes for migrants & refugees.
