IOM trained 90 displaced persons affected by the ongoing drought on solar energy, waste management and plastic recycling in Hamar Jajab and Daynile Districts. They also received mentorship on business, start-up grants & apprenticeship opportunities.

Although famine has been averted, for now, the situation in #Somalia is expected to worsen in the coming months. With support from donors, partners have stepped up assistance, but more funding is needed to save lives. The world must not forget the people of #Somalia.

As partners step up responses to cholera in #Somalia, cases dropped in mid-Jan, in Kismayo by 31% and Dhobley districts by 51% in the 2/3 weeks, with no reported deaths. Cases in drought-affected districts are treated in 10 WHO-supported centres. See

As the #DroughtInSomalia continues exacerbating existing vulnerabilities of children and women, we anticipate additional caseload across all social services like WASH, Nutrition, Health, Child Protection & Education. Together, we are strengthening programmes and partnerships.
