Why is this? On the Northern Beaches we had so much rain this summer-I am puzzled as to how this has happened?

Yes, we had a big rainfall event in March, but it had little impact on Sydney’s catchment. Part of the reason is that after a hot, dry February, the catchment soils were dried out, thus they soaked up water instead of producing run-off to waterways.
