First guess would be some kind of meteor air burst, possibly offshore Kenya/Tanzania in the Indian Ocean. Would be useful to see the signal in Asia if possible

Gotta be huge though eh? Just to get coupling into the ground and then to propagate around the planet.
Magnitude isn't as big in Asia, this from Qiongzhong, Hainan Province, China.

Fair call.
Some kind of extraterrestrial electromagnetic shock wave may be worth thinking about, or some previously unknown to me oscillatory mechanism perhaps involving a complex electromagnetic component at great depth.
It is strange.
