Magic I just learned: in Terminal, do a thing with output (like ls), then do cmd-shift-A.

I take it back, my favorite new Terminal feature is that pasting newlines doesn't submit input in Sierra.https://twitter.com/UINT_MIN/status/779019576637960192 …

@UINT_MIN@jnadeau@brentsimmons I'm not sure about that
did you switch to zsh recently? -
@kylebshr@jnadeau@brentsimmons I do use zsh, but didn't switch recently. Are you seeing otherwise in bash? (Or is it an old feature?) - View other replies

@kylebshr@jnadeau@brentsimmons Maybe it's a zsh 5.2 thing vs 5.0.

Don’t forget that two-finger scrolling now works w/ less, man pages, etc… /cc

@davedelong@UINT_MIN@brentsimmons Yup and you can toggle mouse reporting with ⌘R. I do it a lot with tmux. - View other replies

@jnadeau@davedelong@brentsimmons Ohhh the toggle helps a lot. -
@UINT_MIN@jnadeau@davedelong@brentsimmons You can also use the Fn modifier when clicking or dragging, to interact with the terminal view. -
@UINT_MIN@jnadeau@davedelong@brentsimmons Allow Mouse Reporting ⌘R is for longer periods of interaction, or when Fn isn't convenient.

@UINT_MIN@jnadeau@brentsimmons This needs to be in iTerm! -
@UINT_MIN@pschneider_@jnadeau@brentsimmons In Terminal, adding Shift for these commands extends the selection, just like in an editor.

@UINT_MIN@jnadeau@brentsimmons anyone knows what’s Paste Selection? Couldn’t figure out exactly with tests.pic.twitter.com/JaJFxlc39E
-
@an0@jnadeau@brentsimmons Seems to be more "Insert Selection". Takes what's selected and puts it at the cursor w/o changing clipboard. -
@UINT_MIN@jnadeau@brentsimmons so a selection-specific pasteboard in Terminal. Reminds me of selecting to copy during my linux days. -
@an0@UINT_MIN@jnadeau@brentsimmons Terminal has Select to Copy. This command updates the pasteboard and then pastes it in one step. -
@an0@UINT_MIN@jnadeau@brentsimmons You can also use mouse button three to Paste this separate pasteboard, just like X. -
@an0@UINT_MIN@jnadeau@brentsimmons The selection pasteboard is named “http://com.apple .Terminal.selection” and is public.
