    UW-Madison staff members wrote this excellent report on the equity issues with full return to in-person work. allowing for at least partial remote work is "to the betterment of marginalized employees across the axes of gender, race, and disability."

    P.S. , the union for academic staff and faculty does, in fact, offer mutual aid and financial assistance for any union member. No questions asked. Just saying.

    Next month, will switch from monthly payroll for some to biweekly (every 2 wks) payroll for all. Employees will effectively lose 2 wks of pay that they don't get back until they end their appt with the university - plan ahead!! - 1/n

    While working/furloughing from home this year my office was destroyed in a flood of scalding water from a broken water valve.

    The UW made us all take several unpaid furlough days to make up for shortfalls in the Athletics budget. Our academic buildings are literally falling apart. But glad to see we’ve got the resources for this!
