On this day, 27 years ago, we lost beloved Firefighter Louis Valentino in the line of duty. A Brooklyn Native, Valentino began his career in the department in 1984 with Engine Co. 281, eventually fulfilling his dream of becoming a member of Rescue 2

We're looking at boreal brutal cold temps over the next few days. should add the 5th firefighter for all companies during this time. 911 calls to FDNY increase during frigid temps and frozen hydrants mean more time & labor to put water on fires. The 5th FF will save lives.

Three firefighters and one civilian were injured during the response, and all four were transported and treated at Cornell Hospital.  Our Firefighters commitment to the safety of our city is unwavering and we are proud of everything they do for our city.

department at 34 years old. This is a tremendous loss to his young family, his parents, the members of L109/E241, all the members of the 40 battalion, and all those who worked with him, and his brother who is also an active firefighter in Brooklyn.

They found two people who had been injured, and quickly got them out of the building and to safety. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, one person was killed in the fire. We send our deepest condolences to the family affected.

Firefighters immediately went to work to rescue victims and to extinguish this blaze. Their first priority was to get the residents out of the building and to safety. They rushed into the building, searching for anyone who may be trapped inside.

Earlier this afternoon in the Bronx, Firefighters responded to a raging two-alarm fire at an apartment building. As they arrived, they were met with a terrifying sight. The flames were already towering high and the smoke was thick.

Make sure you have working smoke detectors in your home, and have an emergency plan in place. They also want to remind everyone to be cautious when cooking, and to never leave the stove unattended.

Unfortunately, the fire did cause some injuries. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their hearts go out to them and their families during this difficult time. They want to remind everyone that fires can happen at any time, and it's important to be prepared.

It was a difficult task, as the flames had spread through multiple floors and rooms. But with the help of their fellow firefighters, they were able to get the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings.

On Monday, Firefighters from E35/TL14, E53/L43, and E91 were called to a massive fire that broke out in a building in Harlem; right around the corner from E35/TL’s house. As soon as they arrived on the scene, they could see the flames and smoke pouring out of the windows.

Lieutenant Curtis W. Meyran, and Firefighter Richard T. Sclafani. Let us also remember Firefighter Joseph DiBernardo, who died as a result of injuries sustained. Both Bellew & DiBernardo were promoted posthumously to Lieutenant.
