    On the last day of the field trip, students and lecturers take a group photo in front of the columns of the Serapis. Featured on the frontispiece of Charles Lyell’s ‘Principles of Geology’, the 3 columns provide clear evidence of ground movements within the Campi Flegrei caldera.

    In 1998, the town of Quindici was destroyed by a devastating landslide. On Day 4 of the MSc Geophysical Hazards field trip, students led discussions on the events leading up to the disaster and the prevention measures that have been put in place since.
