Not really, I'm saying it is the right question to ask, even if you don't get a straight answer. I respect that at least you asked that question.
You won't tell us who, because you don't want us to know who. But if it was someone else, you could just say that, & we still wouldn't know who. That you wont do so, is EXTREMELY suggestive that you were in fact talking about V, just as it seemed all along.

My point being, you are actually saying more (even if it is wrong) by saying nothing at all. The best way to say the least, would be to say, "it wasn't V I was referring to"
