i think it just boils down to all the things that made dark souls amazing to me were missing from demons, leaving just all the weird janky stuff behind. I'm glad they eventually learned to tone it down on the ridiculous corpse runs at least

It's very rough around the edges, but it's really cool seeing how a lot of the concepts and ideas were there from the very beginning. Also the bosses by and large were consistently very good, which can't be said about other souls games.

While rough around the edges, the area Demons were super awesome, with Maiden Astrea being very cool. IMO the storytelling managing to be more interesting than 2+3 put together, & is what elevates it over parts of the series for me. The rough parts make it hard to go back to tho

It was actually less jank than I expected. The whole thing clicked very easily for me; combat felt almost identical to DS1. Definitely odd to play through it last considering every scenario has been redone in other souls games.
