    Two things: (1) concentration of corporate wealth and income at the largest firms and (2) sustained near zero interest rates.

    This is the stock market (S&P 500) over the past 40 years. We seem to be in the midst of an almost unprecedentedly exuberant market. Can somebody explain to me how this is rational, given the pandemic & many other causes for uncertainty about future stability & prosperity?

    I’m a Midwestern Rep so I do worry about deficits but less so than the ultra low interest rates that finance them. Reduces discipline on spending and eases pressure to raise tax revenues and let’s face it in aggregate, we are under taxed ⁦⁩

    I have a lot of points and yet can’t book a hotel for next August anywhere near where we normally want to stay. But because of my “status”, they are willing to let me book it for cash at $880/night. Yeah, no.

    This FSOC meeting is a timely reminder about the stakes of the Fed Chair debate. The Chair, not the VCS, represents the Fed on FSOC. Powell's worst finreg vote was not tailoring, Volcker, or even stress tests. It was FSOC nonbank SIFI guidance. Repealing should be a priority.

    In case you were wondering if SPACs were generally materially different than other companies.

    Really wish that EDGAR would tag filings as SPACs. It's easy enough to spot them once you read the filing, but a tag/label would prime you for the BS.

    Biden's competition council, formed in July to lower prices for consumers, will hold its inaugural meeting Sept. 10, per officials. The chairman of the SEC will join. “Capitalism without competition isn’t capitalism; it’s exploitation,” Biden once said.

    School board meetings are full of parents denouncing science and history. Politicians are using that chaos to defund public education. Our nation is in crisis and we’re pretending our hands are tied. We lack not options for moving forward, but the courage to do so.
