What's the point of a dislike button if you can't see the numbers for it?
This isn't quite a dislike button. In this research experiment, the thumbs down icon is a down vote that lets us know that you think the reply isn’t relevant to the conversation. We want to better understand the types of replies you do and don't find relevant in a convo.
You really think people will use it for saying it's not relevant!? So naive for a million dollar corporation.
i was planning on using it in every tweet that i didn't plan on liking

Adding to the crowd of people saying: won't work like that. Even Reddit boards have that issue. People will just use it to let off steam. Also why do you need to know what a user thinks is relevant in a conversation? Show stuff unfiltered.

So in a nutshell you are going to be giving more exposure to tweets that get the least downvotes, am i right? This is all about the algorithm. It's such a bad idea.
And you think people are going to use that button as a way to tell you they don't find X Y Z content "relevant", you're wrong. People are going to use it as a dislike button.
That isnt how it works. It would lead groups to brigading and piling up on comments they dont like. Allowing them to push dissent to the bottom. That's social networking 101. People brigade things.
