Last year we announced our plan to retire Site Streams & User Streams, and replace them with the Account Activity API (currently in beta). We are delaying the scheduled June 19th deprecation date.

Why people are accepting this as an adequate response is beyond me. 1. If the developers of the biggest 3rd party Twitter apps still don’t have access a year after, then this is obviously a farce.
-
2. This API is inherently limited and doesn’t replicate the experience users want.
-
3. You’re introducing a *worse and more limited API* when every user of 3rd party apps has been asking for a BETTER API. Polls, anyone?
-
I will never understand how a company in so much financial trouble manages to consistently turn their back on the users that ACTUALLY LIKE THEIR SERVICE.
-
Twitter is the service I most love run by the company I most hate. You’ve done literally nothing but make it worse since the day I joined.
-
Buy up 3rd party apps and let them wither on the vine. Aggressively attack the users and community that made you notable and popular. Erode the client community as much as you can.
-
Now, it’s not working because despite all your efforts people STILL prefer 3rd party clients over your 1st party bullshit, so you pull out all the stops and just say “fuck it, we’ve lost all pretense of fairness and just want the app community gone.”
-
Then when you’re called on it, your response is “shit, too many people are paying attention. Let’s wait until this dies down, then do it anyways.” God, you guys are the absolute worst.

I've been "on the waitlist" since I applied for Premium search API. In November 2017.

Fuck you. You can't make a usable app, at least let others make one.

I'd rather leave Twitter completely than watch you guys bully third party devs and force everyone to use the shitty official app.

Well done for actually listening to people.

In case this is not meant sarcastically, they did not. This means nothing. The API they propose there is unsuitable in some use-cases that the old one had. Basically ignores all the issues raised and just contains some PR blabla acting like they care…
-
It was sarcasm.

If your official app is crap, don't kill all the others that out-beat yours, improve your own!

Hey, stop
#BreakingMyTwitter. The default twitter app is missing simple features that make twitter usable. Don’t kill off 3rd party apps! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Applied, and still waiting.... sure makes it hard for someone trying to respond to next week's upcoming RFP deadline....

The problem is not applying for access - the problem is that you haven't given any of them access to test something that goes into effect in 2 months.
