Hey @Twitch @TwitchSupport, I really, really, REALLY think you should bring "/emergency" back from http://Justin.tv . Please, for the greater good of everyone.

What did that command do?
-
From http://www.justin.tv/p/emergencies of yesteryear (excluded on
@internetarchive Wayback Machine but found it elsewhere): "If you observe something that truly requires emergency assistance (i.e. immediate threats to someone's life or safety) and you are logged into the chatroom, you..." -
"...can type in /emergency and any online admins will be notified of the channel in question. This is like dialing 911, so don't use it to report things that you may find offensive, but that aren't actually emergencies!"
-
there is no way today’s twitch culture will use this the way it’s intended
-
If abuse is a concern (obviously it is), limit it to be able to be used by only partners and maybe some affiliates.
-
Or moderators only
-
or have it be a threshold. many chats use this for "automatic" clips. over 100 /emergency commands in 30 seconds, or something similar, would help cut down on idiots. many ways to handle this.

BAN GUNS. IMAGINE
-
You think banning guns will help anything? People still find ways to get guns, just like they find ways to get drugs that are illegal
-
You’re right. The problem must just be USA and it’s culture Canada has guns but no one seems to want to play death match IRL
-
We just had a mass shooting less than a month ago perpetrated by a man with a illegal handgun from the US
-
Mass shootings don't happen in other countries for a reason ;)
-
Bro im from Canada..we have mass shootings as well
-
Come back with that comment when Canada has as much shootings as the US. Completely preventing shootings is impossible. Preventing almost all of them is possible however.
-
It's not a contest I don't want any mass shootings in Canada...i can't do anything about US shootings ..so I'll direct my energy towards pushing for an end to them in Canada..im not okay with saying well we have less than the States

can we please have a much tighter security at
@TwitchCon . i wouldnt even care if the line wait is longer. my life. my security at these events is way more important. that goes for everyone else and their lives too. safety should always be key at these major events. -
Long lines creates the same problem. Large group of unchecked people in one area. Of course they should tighten security, but at the same time, avoiding long lines.
-
As a security professional, it doesn’t matter how long the line is, you catch him before he enters the venue. Sometimes just seeing the level of security and how thorough it is, is enough to deter an attack.
-
Doesn't sound very professional. Any large group of unchecked people has the potential to be dangeorus. While the security might be a deterrent, if they don't even intend on entering the venue, that seems dangerous to rely on.
-
If someone wanted to shoot a group of people, then they could go anywhere. If someone chooses a venue, more than likely they’re targeting something more than a line. I’m not saying let one person in a minute. But security *CANNOT* be compromised just because the line is long.
-
Why do people target Venues? Normally to target a specific type of people, that exact demographic will be in the line. And I never suggested compromising security. There's other ways to keep lines short. Like adding more entrances, increasing staff, re-training staff, etc.
-
Look dude, nobody is gonna know the motive or reason for anything until the person commits to his act. The speculation on how or why he wants to do it is a moot point. The only thing you need to worry about is what measures are in place to mitigate risk.
-
Yeah we wont know the exact reasoning, so let's just ignore the fact that nearly all mass shooters target a specific type of person. Whether it's gays in the Orlando attack, attractive girls in the Toronta attack, or school-goers in the many school shooting.
