Only Seattle and maybe Denver are actually doing a good job. Everybody else needs a zoning overhaul.

It’s an illusion. Seattle isolates all housing growth on to like 10% of developable land for housing. Single family zoning takes up 29 square miles (75% of our land dedicated for housing)

Philadelphia doesn’t really have a housing problem. Median home price is like $200k and median rent is about half of what it is in NYC. Population is down 500k since the 1950s.

But is this by number of units or number of permits? The two comparisons would look vastly different because one multi-family permit in NYC could cover 200 units of housing.
