Credit requirements, as in "consumer credit rating" or as in "taking a lot of courses?"
"30 credits per year", so only full-time students eligible.
Heavy credit requirements? 15 credits a semester so the student graduates on time is not a "heavy credit requirement"
it is a lot if you also have to work to support yourself or your family, as most of my students at Brooklyn and Hunter Colleges did. the biggest flaw of excelsior is it requires students to be full time every semester. the poorest students who need help the most can't do that.
What a disaster. The community college stats are beyond upsetting. Program reqs seemingly made by people with no concept of reality for comm college students.
Thirty credits per year is more than full time, which would be 12 credits per semester, so that is heavy. Most poorer students can't afford not to work, so the credit requirement seems unduly burdensome.
Also, fees are extremely high at SUNYs, and the Excelsior Scholarship doesn't address those. All in all, the Scholarship seems more of a tease.
The program is all pomp and no circumstance.
