I have never been paid to do a charity fundraiser on stream. But honestly I'm curious, Why is it OK to pay a streamer UNLESS they are streaming for a good cause?

I'd pay them as well just not with mo ey people donated to that charity rather from another source

It's more of a bad optics situation. To some its a person profiting off of a charity but I agree, why not pay a high profile person to widen the reach of possible donors.

I would say it depends. For me, as principle, charity should be pro bono. Larger streamers get clout, and the ad revenue plus subs already pays them. For smaller streamers I usually pay them with a sub (plus the donation to charity).

And speaking of work, last week my company organized an internal charity event for Unicef (children in Yemen), and doubled whatever we (employees) paid. No one was paid for organizing that internal event and managing it all, not monetarily at least. But respect is a currency.

But I get your point, although I think it's two separate things (correct me if I'm wrong). They wouldn't be doing charity, they would be working as usual, just so happens that the work they would be doing/promoting would be a charity, but from their POV would be work as usual.

Some think that money being involved in a good deed demeans that deed. If charities had enough funding they would have no problem paying their volunteers. Not everyone is in a financial position to do charity work for free and if money is being offered for it, then so be it.
