Being paid to do a charity fundraiser seems very vain. You could be doing it because you want the pay out, not really caring about the cause, just the money. People doing fundraisers should do it for the cause alone, and if they do get paid, that should go back into the cause.

I was just thinking that when people work, they deserve to be paid. If I ran a charity, I would pay people for their time. For example I'd pay a badge or pin company to make ones with the charity name on it. I would pay for slots to advertise my charity on TV.

from what i understand, lets say they pay someone 5k for the stream and they end up raising 10k for the charity, the charity sees it was a W and worth the 5k

You're thinking as if they don't pay dozens if not 100s of people to raise money at once. It all adds up, makes no difference than paying 5k worth of advertisements or physical media. If anything it is arguably more successful.

Fundraising is a natural expense for non-profits, whether that’s for streamers or not. Might as well pay a streamer a small portion because it’s an investment that pays off. That’s what marketing and fundraising is.

I think that's not the problem at all, I think more the problem is that if you ARE paid it's just for the streamer to disclose it, transparency is key otherwise it will def start rumours or people will do their theories etc etc.

because if a streamer is being paid its kinda taking money away from the charity

Not if it's bring in more...

Its ok, but it feels weird to be asked to donate out selflessness and then know that the streamer themselves was not being selfless
