Eh it happens with me all the time. I used to be afraid of TV static as a kid, but so many TVs broke when I touched them that I grew accustomed to it. They used to call me grudge girl for so long.

It looks it could be a bad cable or connector on the monitor or computer. I don't suppose you rest your feet on the cables under your desk or catch them from time to time? Seen some very odd intermittent failures due to long term/intermittent strain on cables.

It's all fixed now. I don't even know how! But I'll bear that in mind for next time!
