This is absolutely disgusting I’m so sorry

I dont personally feel it's that disgusting, it's a constructive although misinformed opinion. Leagues better than how most people have been handling the situation. I personally dont agree with it, I just dont think that people with this opinion should be demonized.

I've got two issues with it especially: 1) Pedophiles CAN control their urges. They can't control their feelings, but they can control their actions. If I understood correctly, you can't 2) You're not actually /seriously/ physically harming people daily, you're not a threat to-

I agree, it's an over generalization of a much more in depth topic and issue. I like the distinction you make between feelings and urges. Still I think the argument comes from a constructive and non hurtful place. Just misinformed is all. Hope everyone handles it this well

That's actually pretty impressive. He's managed to essentially effectively defend paedophiles by comparing child abuse to an involuntary physical action, while also being immorally offensive to those with Tourettes by comparing it to paedophilia. That's no small task.

I understand their point exactly - they're aware pedophilia is the specific state of mind of sexual attraction, not the predatory/harming part, but they're still saying it's bad even if it's out of their control to even have a thought cross their mind.
