That is actually a really dangerous stereotype. I say homophobic and racist slurs out of nowhere and it has no relationship to my inner thoughts or feelings. People with Coprolalia can be put in danger in public if people assume its our inner thoughts.

Most tics are random words, unrelated to the situation. However it's not a very well understood condition, and we all experience the condition uniquely. I bet there isn't just one answer to this. But I'll explain how these sorts of jokes happen to me specifically.

OCD is often co-morbid with TS. Strong emotions can cause more frequent and severe tics. Worry has a HUGE influence on my tics. I also get intrusive thoughts about inappropriate words or dangerous actions, like putting my hand in a fire for example.

I never meant to say it was a reflection of your inner thoughts or feelings, but when it comes to homophobic/racist slurs, those could still be subconscious thoughts of just saying those words, right? No intent or reason for saying them, just thinking of the word itself? idk
